Déminage
Traduction automatique.
Landmines and unexploded ordnance continue to kill long after fighting has ended. According to the Landmine Monitor 2025, in 2024 they killed or injured at least 6,279 people, the highest figure since 2020: 90% were civilians, and almost half of them children. The report, published in December 2025, notes that Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland are withdrawing from the treaty banning anti-personnel mines, and that contamination affects at least 57 states and other areas. This page shows who does this work and who pays for it.
The sector depends on a small number of donors, above all the United States. According to the report's authors, in 2025 the US funding freeze halted some programmes and closed others, and programmes in Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Colombia, Tajikistan and Zimbabwe have already stopped (UN News).

Sources and method
- Organisations: a manually curated list of the organisations in the atlas that carry out demining, drawn from their official descriptions. We separate specialised organisations from those that run it as one programme among many: for the latter, income and payments concern all activities, not only demining. The list is not complete: operators such as the Fondation suisse de déminage are not in the atlas, and many teams belong to public bodies or the military.
- United States payments: USAID and the Department of State via IATI, in euros at the average exchange rate for the year. For specialised organisations they are a good measure of funds for this work; some US recipients may have their name hidden. 2025 is the last full year.
- Official development assistance for demining: OECD, Creditor Reporting System, sector 15250 («Removal of landmines and explosive remnants of war»), disbursements at current prices to developing countries. It covers all recipients, not only NGOs; the data arrive with a delay of a couple of years, so the 2025 cuts are not yet visible.
- Victims and treaty: Landmine Monitor, compiled by the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL). Victims are those recorded; the actual number may be higher.
