WAR CHILD CANADA

International NGO from Canada

War Child’s core purpose is to restore hope for children whose lives have been disrupted by war and armed conflict. We work with their families and the wider community to map out a path to a more peaceful and prosperous future. Ninety-nine per cent of War Child’s staff are locally recruited and have a personal stake in their community’s rehabilitation. They ensure that every service provided is designed to address the specific issues that are standing in the way of children and their families’ well-being. The impact of war can last a lifetime. That is why, since 1999, War Child has been doing far more than meeting urgent needs. We have been laying the foundation for deep and sustainable improvements. Instead of simply giving aid, WarChild helps people gain the skills, tools, and confidence they need to rebuild their lives. Well over a million children and their families have benefited from this holistic approach. Our programming focuses on removing barriers to learning, providing vocational training, encouraging entrepreneurship, increasing food security, protecting fundamental rights, and ending sexual violence. Our work is designed in collaboration with local people because they are best placed to identify their own needs. From that understanding, we can work together to chart apath towards a better future.
