Urgent Action Fund-Africa
Regional NGO from Kenya
Urgent Action Fund-Africa is a feminist, pan-African rapid response fund that supports women, girls, trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming human rights defenders, activists, collectives and movements across Africa. The organisation provides timely, flexible and responsive funding to support urgent protection, security, advocacy, solidarity, healing, care, movement-building and crisis-response needs. Through its grantmaking, accompaniment and partnership work, UAF-Africa supports activists and movements responding to political, social, economic, environmental and humanitarian crises, including shrinking civic space, conflict, climate-related emergencies, gender-based violence, economic injustice and threats to human rights defenders. The organisation works to strengthen feminist movements, advance justice and equality, and ensure that communities most affected by crises have the resources, solidarity and support they need to act safely, strategically and effectively. UAF-Africa’s work is rooted in feminist principles, trust-based resourcing, collective care, accountability and solidarity. Its development and humanitarian activities prioritise the leadership, agency and safety of African women and gender-diverse activists and movements, while contributing to broader efforts to promote human rights, social justice, resilience and sustainable change across the continent.
