Mazingira ni Uhai (MNU) is a Tanzanian non-governmental organization (NGO) committed to environmental conservation, climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, mangrove restoration, and community empowerment. Founded by a group of dedicated environmental advocates, the organization emerged in response to the increasing impacts of climate change, environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, and socio-economic challenges affecting vulnerable communities. Officially registered under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act of Tanzania, Mazingira ni Uhai operates throughout the United Republic of Tanzania, with its headquarters located in Kilwa Masoko, Lindi Region. The organization works with smallholder farmers, fishers, pastoralists, women, youth, and vulnerable groups to promote environmental sustainability, improve livelihoods, strengthen food security, and build resilient communities capable of adapting to climate change. One of the organization's flagship initiatives is the restoration and conservation of mangrove ecosystems in Kilwa District. Through community-led mangrove restoration, environmental education, and sustainable natural resource management, MNU contributes to the protection of coastal ecosystems, biodiversity conservation, and the advancement of climate resilience in coastal communities. Through innovation, strategic partnerships, and community-driven approaches, Mazingira ni Uhai seeks to create a future where people and nature thrive together.
