Comunidades Ecologistas La Ceiba - COECOCEIBA

National non-governmental organisation. Based in: Costa Rica. Active at least since 2026. Main sector: human rights and democracy.

COECOCEIBA is an environmental organization and long-standing member of the ecological movement in Costa Rica, with over 20 years of experience working alongside local communities. It believes that lasting change is built from the ground up, connecting local struggles with national and international processes to challenge a development model it views as extractive and exclusionary. The organization envisions sustainable societies rooted in social, economic, environmental, gender, and intergenerational justice, with full respect for peoples’ rights and sovereignty. Its mission is to strengthen and articulate social movements in defense of territories, working with allies to promote systemic alternatives, foster critical dialogue, lead advocacy campaigns, and advance participatory action research that supports collective organizing and transformative change.
