Christian Democratic International Center

National non-governmental organisation. Based in: Sweden. Active at least since 2026. Main sector: education.

KIC (the Christian Democratic International Center) has its roots in the democratic transformations of the 1990s, when countries in Eastern Europe and South Africa were taking their first steps toward freedom and democracy. Driven by a strong commitment from the Swedish Christian Democratic movement, particularly its youth and women’s organizations, efforts began to support emerging democratic forces through partnerships and solidarity work. As this engagement grew, the need for a more professional and long-term organization became clear. In 2005, KIC was established, succeeding the Christian Democrats’ Council for Democracy and Development (KrDU). From initially supporting sister parties, KIC expanded its mission to include democratic leadership training, capacity building, and the development of inclusive political institutions. Today, KIC works with partners across Eastern Europe, Africa, Latin America, and other regions where democracy faces challenges. Through training local leaders, empowering women, and engaging young people in public life, KIC helps strengthen democratic participation and promote sustainable democratic development. Its work is guided by a commitment to freedom, human dignity, solidarity, and long-term partnerships for democratic change.
