Broederlijk Delen
Flemish aid and development agency
Systems change for sustainable and just societies is the 7th joint programme of Broederlijk Delen and Studio Globo. In the long term we aim for sustainable and just societies in which everyone lives well with enough and the limits of our planet are respected. Because more is needed than cosmetic work, systems change becomes the common thread of our strategy, with social and ecological justice as a transversal principle, applied to 3 domains of change: raw materials and food systems, global solidarity in motion, and political voice and participation. Change is possible when people together choose inclusion and participation. That is why we connect communities in Flanders and the partner countries in a global solidarity movement with a positive and strong ethical narrative of sharing and redistribution. In this way we arrive at an international cooperation that leaves 'North and South' as a contrast behind. Admittedly not blind to the unequal distribution of the harmful consequences of unjust power structures. That is why there is specific attention to those who are hit hard. The reality is that this is mainly in the partner countries. Political work comes first to change policy, both in the partner countries and in Belgium. For this, a base of support is needed. Change grows from the grassroots. Through our broad network we raise awareness and mobilise Flemish society for international solidarity. With movement-building and education we stimulate critical analysis, social action and structural change. Creative models, the power of encounters, training trajectories and lively debates stimulate, from an early age, a sense of connection in the perspective of more solidarity. We reach about 60% of Flemish schools and work in an action-oriented way with thousands of volunteers in more than 1500 local groups and with partner organisations in 11 countries. Five years together building a global movement must do more than turn one cog of the system differently.
