Barnfondens Insamlingsstiftelse
Swedish organisation with a 90-account (Svensk Insamlingskontroll). Based in: Sweden. Active at least since 2026. Main sector: environment and climate.
Barnfonden Insamlingsstiftelse was founded in Sweden in 1991. Barnfonden is a non-religious and non-partisan child rights organisation working to create lasting change for children by strengthening families, communities, and local systems to uphold child rights and build resilience. Through partnerships, holistic programming and sustainable solutions, we address challenges restricting children and youth from claiming their rights. As the im-pacts of climate change and environmental degradation have become more and more critical as amplifiers of violence, inequality and poverty, we have turned the spotlight on CSOs and their ability to act as mobilisers and influencers in addressing issues as they affect children and youth. Barnfonden works with Civil Society Organisations as local partners and the communities they serve, to advance child rights. The CSO’s we work with have systems and networks within communities, and are trusted by citizens locally, by government, and by Barnfonden. They have identified their support needs in order to be-come stronger as key non-market and non-state organisations, organising themselves to pursue the unique chal-lenges experience by children and youth. As we work with them to develop plans, we also consider the root caus-es of poverty and their alignment with other initiatives, including contributions from other CSOs, and to govern-ment plans. Barnfonden helps empower children, families, and their communities to influence decisions that affect their lives. By working through local partners to build knowledge, systems, and opportunities, we ensure that the voices of children and youth are heard in decision-making forums. We are committed to finding ways in which children, youth and their communities can shape their present, and their future. Barnfonden is a member of the ChildFund Alliance. ChildFund Alliance is a network of 11 child-focused devel-opment and humanitarian organizations working in more than 70 countries around the world. The Alliance helps nearly 30 million children, family and community members to overcome poverty. Barnfonden’s engagement with the ChildFund Alliance adds significant value in both directions. Barnfonden has been leading climate and envi-ronment thinking amongst members and this Sida programme gives the opportunity to synergise initiatives, scale-up successful projects, share learning, and broaden impact. Through the Alliance members’ Country Offices, Barnfonden works closely with, and gives in-county technical support, towards local partners in a cost-efficient way without managing its own local offices.
