The Association Béninoise pour la Promotion de la Famille (ABPF) was founded in 1970 and officially recognised in 1972. The ABPF became a full member of the IPPF in 1975. The main aim of the Association is to contribute to the qualitative improvement of the sexual and reproductive health of populations living in Benin and to help uphold the rights of women, men, adolescents and young people and other vulnerable persons to make free and informed choices regarding their sexual and reproductive health. The ABPF is a major strategic actor in the promotion of sexual and reproductive health and rights in Benin. It aims to reach adolescents, young people, women of reproductive age and men, in particular marginalised populations such as the poor, persons with disabilities, LGBTQI persons and sex workers. The ABPF has extensive experience in creating demand for FP/SRH, advocacy, service delivery and capacity building. It takes part in most national policies and consultative forums in which SRHR are discussed.
