Aldeas Infantiles SOS Bolivia
National non-governmental organisation. Based in: Bolivia. Active at least since 2026. Main sector: human rights and democracy.
We are a non-profit, non-governmental and independent organisation working for the right of children to grow up in a family. Our commitment is to ensure that children all over the world enjoy the quality care they are entitled to. In total, more than 970,461 Bolivian girls and boys are affected by the violation of their right to live in a family. In Bolivia we directly serve 9,000 children in 8 cities. We focus on the comprehensive and progressive development of each child, and we develop forms of care that respond to each particular situation and correspond to the level of risk they face. The family is the best place for children to grow up. However, there are families going through situations that put the care of children at risk, caused by various internal and external factors. For this reason, there are different levels at which the risk can increase or worsen if the solution is not addressed in time. In this sense, SOS Bolivia implements 3 service categories: Advocacy: Advocacy services are focused on establishing safeguarding and child and youth protection mechanisms in the social ecosystem, at different territorial levels. It works with communities, government, institutions and all actors involved with girls and boys, focusing on those in situations of vulnerability. Family Strengthening: Family strengthening services work early on preventing the loss of family care for girls and boys, working through case management with families in medium and high situations of vulnerability. Alternative Care: The alternative care services of SOS Children's Villages in Bolivia are family-based, segmented by levels of vulnerability of girls, boys, adolescents and young people who have already lost family care.
